140+ delegates united against fisheries crime
Branding, event material and a film for the Blue Justice Conference 2023 at UN City, Copenhagen, for UNDP and the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
The conference identity
The Blue Justice chevrons and a breaking wave in deep blue, with short, direct messages, so every banner and screen carried the same call to action.

The need
Who they needed to reach
Ministers, government representatives, operational experts and civil society from coastal states around the world, in the room and online
What stood in the way
In 2023 the world's largest conference on fisheries crime brought more than 140 ministers, government representatives, operational experts and civil society attendees to UN City, Copenhagen, with hundreds more following online. Co-hosted by UNDP, the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism, it was opened by Norway's Prime Minister and set out to turn shared commitments into coordinated action. Delegates came from very different countries, agencies and languages, and the event needed one clear identity that made the Blue Justice message impossible to miss.
What success looked like
A conference that looked and felt like one movement, from the welcome desk to the stage, and a record of it to share afterwards.

How we met the need
We built the conference identity on the Blue Justice brand we created, adding a Conference 2023 mark and a powerful image of a breaking wave in deep blue. From there we produced everything delegates saw, from the stage and podium to banners, roll-ups, speaker slides, social media posts and name tags, and made a short film of the conference.
The process
Organised crime in the fishing industry costs coastal states revenue, food and jobs, and it only stops when countries and agencies work together. The Blue Justice Conference 2023 brought that cooperation into one room. More than 140 ministers, officials, operational experts and civil society representatives met at UN City in Copenhagen, with 758 more following the livestream.
The conference was co-hosted by UNDP, the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism, and opened by Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. Over two days it covered cooperation between agencies and across borders, surveillance and digital tools, enforcement, and making fish supply chains traceable.
Because we created the Blue Justice brand, we could give the conference its own identity without losing the family look. A Conference 2023 mark and a breaking wave in deep blue ran through the stage, podium, banners, roll-ups, speaker slides, social media and name tags, with short, direct messages delegates could not miss. We also made a short film of the conference.
This was one part of a ten-year partnership. See the full Blue Justice story, from the first FishCRIME symposium to the documentary Taking Back Our Oceans.

What the client got
Nine countries signed the Copenhagen Declaration at the conference, bringing the total to 60, about 37% of coastal UN member states, and the Blue Justice Caribbean Hub was launched with the support of 14 Caribbean countries. Thirty-eight ministers shared their countries' experience. Every space and screen carried one Blue Justice identity, and the film gives the movement a record of the day to share.
